We've often discussed the power of peat bogs to preserve decaying matter, and scientists have been able to regenerate an ice age plant from the permafrost in Russia! Like oxygen- poor soils in peat bogs, permafrost isolates sediment deposits from the surface and preserves genetic matter that has actually resulted in a living plant!!

Iv read A Sand County Almanac by Leopold! Its definitely one worth checking out- he was a remarkable man. This screening sounds equally as interesting!
