Shadow Lake is dealing with invasive pressure as well! Neighbors living around the lake, the King county Noxious Weed Control Program and the Washington State Department of Ecology’s Aquatic Weeds Management Fund have teamed up to fight back.

Eurasian watermilfoil and fragrant water lily currently grow into dense monotypic stands that can outcompete native aquatic plants, reduce biodiversity and change the natural predator/prey relationship in the lake.  These plants are also a recreation hazard for those swimming and boating. Yellowflag iris is a threat to the shoreline, wetland, and bog habitats surrounding the lake.
