Restoration Work Party

Bookmarks and Landmarks: The Hidden life of Trees

Come discuss the book, The Hidden Life of Trees (Peter Wohllenben), with ecologist and restoration specialist Daniel Sorenson, who will share personal reflections on the emotional connections we have with places and plants. Program includes an optional walk in the Nature Preserve’s beautiful 5,000-year-old peat bog. Participants encouraged to bring a picnic lunch.   Registration begins June 23 online at kcls.org or call the Covington Library at 253-630-8761.

Guided Nature Walk- Woods Trail

Stroll along one of the nature preserve's trails with a naturalist guiding your one-hour walk. We will explore the flora and fauna of the preserve and learn about native wildflowers, fungi, birds, human history, and more. Guided Nature Walks are outdoor explorations that take place rain or shine. Come with weather appropriate clothes and shoes for moderate levels of walking – inclines or uneven ground may be encountered on this walk.  This week we will walk the Woods Trail and explore the three types of ecosystems found in this area…
