Join SHADOW for Meeting of the Mosses to learn about bryology, the importance of sphagnum mosses in peat bogs, and the unique physics of sphagnum!
SHADOW Lake Bog is home to an abundance of mosses that make up our bog ecosystem, and we have them to thank for our magical landscape.
Ecologist Cecilia Monahan will give a lecture on the prominent species of moss at SHADOW, moss studies that we take part in, and the wonderful world of moss. Following our classroom lesson, we will venture into the bog to identify different species of moss.
