DESCRIPTION:Restoration Work Parties\n  \nWork hard\, have fun\, and practice skills like building trail\, removing invasive species\, planting native plants\, and caring for the Nature Preserve by joining our weekly Volunteer Work Parties! \nWork Party tasks change weekly and always include a walk through our 5\,000-year-old bog. \nThese events are held rain or shine so make sure to come dressed for the weather. You may encounter muddy areas and plants with thorns so boots\, long sleeves\, and long pants are recommended. \nNo experience is necessary to participate. Tools and gloves are provided! He is a member of the Lower Elwha S’Klallam Tribe and has a B.A. in Native American Studies from The Evergreen State College and an M.A. in whole systems Design from Antioch University.  \nHe has worked in the fields of art\, education\, social work\, and community organizing for the past 30 years. Read more!  \nWilderness Adventure Program demand increase\nIn 2018 SHADOW has seen a huge increase in the demand for our Wilderness Adventure Field Trips. Beyond out on-going partnership with the Tahoma School District\, the Nature Preserve has hosted a wealth of students from preschool- college! Hear from a local teacher\, how this out-door experience has benefited their class. \nSeventeen-acre Restoration Project\nSHADOW Lake Nature Preserve recently embarked on a 17-acre restoration project to restore biodiversity and wildlife habitat in the Nature Preserve’s upland forests.
