Come learn about Washington’s most fabulous large carnivores, cougars and wolves!   Enjoy an afternoon at the Nature Preserve and learn about carnivores from our guest educator, Sasha Hendricks! Sasha will discusses the background of these species, their position in the wild, interactions with humans, and more. Guided Nature Walk: Native Plant Appreciation

Join us for this educational and enjoyable walk and learn about some of the most beautiful native plants in the Pacific Northwest! From Pacific trilliums to salal, this is a wonderful time of year to see the diversity of flora found at SHADOW Lake Nature Preserve.   Guided Nature Walks are outdoor explorations that take place rain or shine. Come with weather appropriate clothes and shoes for moderate levels of walking – inclines or uneven ground may be encountered on this walk.

Help SHADOW Lake Nature Preserve beautify our grounds and maintain our trails by removing invasive weeds and pruning native species. No previous experience or tools are required, simply arrive with weather-proof clothing for working outside, a water bottle, and a smile. Please be aware that you may encounter muddy areas and plants with thorns. These events are held rain or shine!
