DESCRIPTION:Artist (left) pictured with her work (right): Brenda Chrystie  \nThis Spring\, SHADOW will once again host an event aimed at showcasing the talents of local artists and inspiring creativity through the wild spaces of SHADOW Lake Nature Preserve. This artist-in-action event invites artists and art enthusiasts alike to tour the grounds and create art in the open air. \nSelected works will be displayed\, for sale\, in SHADOW’s Richter Education Center from June 23rd– September 18th. There are a limited number of display spaces in the Education Center\, selected works will be family appropriate in nature and celebrate the artistry of SHADOW’s grounds. \nSubmissions are due no later than June 19th. \nThe Exhibition will open on June 23rd from 4 – 6 pm at SHADOW’s Summer Fundraiser. 50% of proceeds from the sale go directly to the artists\, with the remainder acting as a tax-deductible donation to SHADOW Lake Nature Preserve. Artists should be prepared to provide a small biographical display alongside their work and are encouraged to attend this event. \nDon’t miss out on this unique opportunity! DESCRIPTION:SHADOW’s 1st BioBlitz\nExplore the Nature Preserve\, spot wildlife\, and record your sightings at SHADOW’s first Bioblitz. \nA bioblitz is a count of all the plants and animals seen in one day.\nWe will be recording observations via Smartphone or Tablet in a program called iNaturalist. Check out the iNaturalist app here. Bring a device with the app downloaded with you or use one of ours. This family-friendly event will include opportunities for walking while recording sightings- hiking shoes and weather-proof clothing are recommended. \nWe are hosting this bioblitz as part of a larger initiative\, The City Nature Challenge. DESCRIPTION:Restoration Work Parties\nGet to know your local ecology first-hand by working at one of the various sites around SHADOW Lake Nature Preserve! \nRestoration Work Parties take place Saturdays from 10am to 2pm at SHADOW Lake Nature Preserve. No previous experience or tools are required\, simply arrive with weather-proof clothing for working outside\, a water bottle\, and a smile. Please be aware that you may encounter muddy areas and plants with thorns.
