Sip your coffee, enjoy your breakfast, and join us on Zoom with our friend Katie Remine, Woodland Park Zoo’s Northwest Conservation Coordinator, to learn about our wetland friends—the frogs, toads, salamanders, and newts that call our local wetland habitats home!
First, you will learn about the restoration work that has occurred at the Nature Preserve, including the successful construction of an amphibian pond. Then, Katie will share about the zoo’s long-standing Amphibian Monitoring Community Science Program, which involves teams of volunteers who survey local ponds for egg masses and other signs of amphibians, including ponds found at the Nature Preserve. Learn what species of frogs, toads, salamanders, and newts volunteers are looking for, how the volunteers conduct their surveys, and what they’ve found across the region and here at SHADOW’s ponds!
