Guided Nature Walk: Native Plant Appreciation

Join us for this educational and enjoyable walk and learn about some of the most beautiful native plants in the Pacific Northwest! From Pacific trilliums to salal, this is a wonderful time of year to see the diversity of flora found at SHADOW Lake Nature Preserve.   Guided Nature Walks are outdoor explorations that take place rain or shine. Come with weather appropriate clothes and shoes for moderate levels of walking – inclines or uneven ground may be encountered on this walk.

Help SHADOW Lake Nature Preserve beautify our grounds and maintain our trails by removing invasive weeds and pruning native species. No previous experience or tools are required, simply arrive with weather-proof clothing for working outside, a water bottle, and a smile. Please be aware that you may encounter muddy areas and plants with thorns. These events are held rain or shine!

Gardening with Native Plants

Come learn which native plants are excellent to use in your home landscaping and gardening. We’ll discuss plants that are great for native wildlife & pollinators while teaching simple propagating and planting techniques. You’ll also take a short tour of SHADOW’s native plant garden with a SHADOW Naturalist and take home a packet of native seeds to plant!  *This is an event for all ages, children under 16 should be accompanied by an adult.  There is a $5 suggested program fee per person for this class.
