Got bats?  We do, and we couldn't be happier!  Did you know that Washington State has 15 of the 47 species of bats found in the US?  Here at SHADOW, we have been able to document 8 of those species that call our habitats home! Want to find out how you can help bat populations and become a citizen scientist at the same time?  Well then join us here at SHADOW Lake Nature Preserve to observe some of our marvelous and mysterious native bat species now that the weather is warmer, and they are more active!

Guided Forest Meditation

Join us on August 24th 10:00 AM-12:00 PM to participate in Forest Bathing with Cascadia forest therapy. This practice is similar to meditation but instead of sitting in silence, you will walk around using all of your senses to explore your environment. Breathing the fresh air, feeling the dirt or a fern frond brushing past you can all be used to relax your mind. In a nutshell it is a nature-based mindfulness practice that helps to reduce stress and stay in the moment. You may leave with less urgency to look at your phone and
